Instructor Biography - John K. Rapp, Jr.
John is the Founder and President / Director of Operations for Battle Run Tactical. John is an alumnus of Glenville State College where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science with a minor in Criminal Justice. He also holds an Associates Degree from Marshall University in Applied Sciences.
John has been around guns since he was six (6) years old. John's father was also a West Virginia State Police Office and former Air Force AIrman who continously trained with firearms. John spent many hours with his father shooting handguns,hunting rifles and shotguns.

John Rapp is a retired Sergeant from the West Virginia State Police. John's career spanned over twenty years form July 1992 to February 2013 with assignments all over the state. During his career he spent time as an Investigator for the WV Lottery Comission, was a Field Training Officer, District Marijuana Eradication Coordinator, Hate Crimes Trainer, Fire Arms Instructor and Detachment Commander. John managed a four (4) county area and was responsible for proper evidence security ( physical, video and biological) for a thirty-one (31) member Troop Command. John reviewed subordinate troopers daily activity, criminal Investigations and crash reports, provided enforcement of criminal and traffic laws, conducted background Investigation on potential new WVSP recruits, civilians and businesses.
John has added several Instructor certifications to his resume in 2014 through the NRA to include: Basic Pistol Instructor, Personal Protection of the Home Instructor, Refuse to be a Victim Instructor and most recently a State of West Virginia Certified Hunters Safety Volunteer Instructor.

John joined the Army straight out of High School and spent seven (7) years on active duty for August 1984 to August 1991. In November 1998, John joined the WVARNG as an MP and became the firearms trainer for the unit. He attended SAIROC (Small Arms Instructor Range Operation Course)and MMTC (Master Marksmanship Training Course) During Deployment for Iraq war effort (February 2003 - March 2004) John was assigned as the Assistant Operations Non Commissioned Officer and tasked to design, prepare and implement a three (3) week course of instruction that included more than thirty-one (31) classes on law enforcement practices, including firearms training. John overseen the intial class at the Mosul Academy, then John took a team of instructors to a remote Kurdish Controlled region in Northern Iraq and established and overseen three(3)additional law enforcement classes. John assisted in the planning and implementing of physical security for numerous Banking Facilities and Police Stations in the Mosul Providence. John has held Secret and NATO Secret Security Clearence
